TagCanvas 1.6
Published
Yes, another version of TagCanvas just a week after the last one. This time I've added some important and useful features, so I can recommend trying it out. The new files are on the TagCanvas page, as usual.
The biggest change in this version is the new "weighted" mode. Tag clouds usually weight the tags somehow to show which are the most popular tags, or the most widely used. TagCanvas can now use the size of the text in the tag cloud to apply a weight to each tag, and display it by font size, colour or both.
I've added a new TagCanvas with weighted tags page to show how it works and how to use it.
The next new option is called "zoom" and changes the apparent distance of the whole TagCanvas cloud, making it take up more or less space in the canvas. I don't know why I didn't add this in before, it only tweaks one of the internal variables.
The final group of options are "shadow", "shadowBlur" and "shadowOffset". By default, tags do not have a shadow, but setting "shadowBlur" to a number greater than 0 or "shadowOffset" to something other than [0,0] will enable drawing a shadow behind the tags. I've enabled it for the clouds on the TagCanvas page with a light colour, 3 pixels of blur and no offset to produce a slight fuzzy outline or glow around the tags.
That's it for this update. Next up will probably be an updated version of SVGGraph with support for negative and small values.
