Aspall Crisp Apple Cyder

I've seen the name Aspall before, but never drunk any of their output. It seems like they spell cider with a 'Y' to distance their products from the bottom end of the cider market. [See also: Stella Artois Cidre]

Details

From the box:

A crisp, light, medium dry cyder with a fresh apple aroma.

I couldn't find anything about it on the website.

Expectations

I expect cider. I don't know if it is going to be a sweet one or a cloudy one, but I don't really mind either.

Experience

It smells strong, without much of an apple smell but with the kind of smell that says fermentation has happened.

It's quite fizzy and there isn't much colour in the liquid. It reminds me of the white cider that used to be popular, though it does have a slight tinge of yellow to it.

The taste is quite dry, a bit sweet, and with very little apple coming through. I suppose apple is really the only thing in the flavour, but there isn't much of it there.

Overall it is quite refreshing, and I can imagine a younger version of myself drinking a three-litre bottle of it. That's probably not the vibe they were going for though.

Verdict

4/5 : Enjoyable and refreshing, though without a really strong taste.
