Brewdog Dead Pony Club
It's the final of the 12 Brewdog beers of Christmas, and I'm flogging a dead horse. I think I've had this before.
Details
- IPA 3.8% ABV
- 330ml can
From the website:
Dead Pony Club is a low amplitude, high voltage hop hit. Alive with flavour it’s hopped to the Pacific shores and back. Dive in to aromas of citrus, lemon-grass and lime zest. The toasted malt base ebbs to a huge hop hit, washing tropical fruit, floral garlands and spicy undertones all over your palate.
Dead Pony Club - California dreaming for the craft beer generation.
Expectations
I think I have drunk this one before, though the can doesn't look familiar, and I'm fairly sure this is the one I thought tasted weird the first time I tried it. I'm expecting something with a strong grapefruit taste.
Experience
It smells of grapefruit. It's darker than I expected, a deep amber. There is quite a foamy head on it. It looks good.
...
It tastes foul. I was expecting some kind of citrus, grapefruit taste, but it is worse than that.
Verdict
1/5 : Blech. I drank it, so it scores more than 0.
