Brewdog Punk IPA
This came as one of the 12 Beers of Christmas pack. I'm reviewing them in the order they appear on the box label, since I can't think of any better way to order them.
Details
- IPA 5.4% ABV
- 330ml can
From the website:
Punk IPA is the beer that kickstarted the craft beer revolution. A light and golden classic, featuring New World hops that give bursts of grapefruit, pineapple and lychee, all rounded out with a spiky bitter finish.
Expectations
I've drunk this before, and I know I'm not a fan. I've tried a few Brewdog beers in the past and I haven't liked any yet. I expect a really strong citrus taste that is quite off-putting.
Experience
It's yellow, with a thick foamy head and quite large bubbles. The smell makes me think of fruit and deodorant at the same time. It's not actually bad, but not what I was expecting.
The taste is not what I expected either, there is a bit of a tang to it and it's a bit weird, but nowhere near as unpleasant as I thought it would be. It doesn't taste strongly of anything, and there is very little aftertaste.
Honestly, I think I must have confused Punk IPA with another Brewdog beer. This one is not bad at all. This is why I am writing these reviews anyway, because I can never remember which beers I like or not.
Verdict
2/5 : Not awful, but I wouldn't choose to drink it.
