Free Damm
This time I'm trying an alcohol-free lager. I don't mind alcohol-free beers at all, just as long as they are not taste-free as well.
Details
- Alcohol-free lager, 0% ABV
- 330ml can
From the website:
Free Damm is a clean, sparkling, transparent amber colour with shades of gold. It has a light head and lively, fine bubbles. It has a clean, intense aroma, with hops taking centre stage and with hints of fresh white flowers. The taste is delicate, with suggestions of grains and toast. The mouthfeel is smooth but with personality. A beer that is fresh with just the right amount of bitterness.
Expectations
The blurb from the website is pretty descriptive. I just want something refreshing, and this should hopefully do the trick.
Experience
It's quite a pale yellow, with a nice, thick, foamy head and plenty of bubbles. There's a subtle yeasty smell but it's not strong at all.
The taste of this beer is interesting and unexpected. The overall impression is sort of sweet, but more vegetable sweetness than sugary sweetness. I really can't put my finger on anything more specific, though it did give me a vague biscuit impression. There is some bitterness to go with it too.
There's no alcohol in this beer, but I haven't tried a version of it that does have alcohol so I can't say if I am tasting the lack of alcohol. Or not tasting the alcohol. Or whatever. It tastes fine anyway.
Verdict
3/5 : Not bad. It doesn't really do much for me, but there is nothing to complain about either.
