Fuller's London Pride
I've been seeing a lot of adverting for this recently, and I have an inkling that I have drunk it before. If I have, then I remember nothing because I don't know anything about it.
Details
- Amber ale, 4.7% ABV
- 500ml bottle
From the website:
Brewed under the watchful eye of our Griffin since the 1950s, London Pride is unmistakably London's beer. With its well-rounded flavour and rich history, everything about this authentic, characterful beer binds it to our capital city and the people who love it.
This tawny-coloured premium ale borrows sweet raisin, biscuit and dried-fruit notes from the Crystal malt, while fresh, piney herbs emanate from the hops. Rich, smooth and elegant on the palate, it draws to a clean, satisfying finish with beautifully balanced bitterness
Expectations
I think I've had this before, and I think I enjoyed it. Having said that, it's described as "amber ale" and I thought it was something darker. In any case, it has been a hot day and I'm in need of some refreshment.
Experience
It is actually on the darker side of amber, so maybe I am remembering it right. It has plenty of fizz in it, with quite a thin head on top.
The smell is a bit malty and sweet. The taste is quite mild, a bit malty, slightly bitter.
The aftertaste feels stronger than the actual taste. That's not a bad thing though, it means I can drink it slowly and enjoy it for longer.
I still think I have probably drunk this before, but it isn't matching up with what I thought it would be like. It's nice, but now I am left wondering what it is I am vaguely remembering, and if I am ever going to get around to reviewing that.
Verdict
4/5 : It's a decent beer and I enjoyed it, but not as much as I had expected to enjoy it. I'm disappointed because I was hoping for a 5/5.
