Wainwright Amber

This bottle looks really familiar and I'm sure I've had it before. But what does it taste like? I have no idea.

Details

From the website:

Inspired by the famous Lakeland fell-walker Alfred Wainwright, our master brewers go the extra mile too. They search near and far for quality English malt and hops and tirelessly craft unique combinations worthy of the Wainwright name, like this satisfyingly moreish Amber Ale. Full-bodied flavour that’s creamy and lightly fruity, with a crisp, clean finish. Enjoy.

Expectations

I've had this before, and I think I liked it. I usually like amber ale anyway, so I'm hopeful that this will be a decent beer.

Experience

There's quite a strong yeasty hoppy smell, though in this case it doesn't come with the citrusy bit that I'm not fond of. The head is about 10mm and fairly stable and there are a load of tiny bubbles rising up through the beer.

I'd say it is a bit darker than amber, an orange-red-brown colour. It looks really inviting

The beer is smooth. It's bitter and malty, maybe a bit hoppy, but the overall impression I get from it is smoothness. I don't think "smooth" really applies to taste, but that's the word that stuck in my mind.

Verdict

4/5 : Nice. This beer went down well, and left me relaxed and satisfied.
