The third preview release of JPEG Saver 4.0 is now ready for download from the JPEG Saver 4.0 page. There are a couple more transitions and some more bits and pieces fixed. This is probably the last preview release before the finished version 4.0.
A couple of the fixes in this version should find their way into a new version 3.6.1 at some point too, for those of you not interested in the DirectX version.

The second preview version of JPEG Saver 4.0 is available from the JPEG Saver 4.0 page now. This version adds multi-monitor support back in, along with the gamma adjustment controls.
I've also improved the gamma support so you can change each colour component individually, which you could only do by editing the config file before, and added some keyboard shortcuts for adjusting the gamma from within the screen saver.

I was hoping to have JPEG Saver 4.0 finished by now, but there's still some work to be done. Nevertheless, I'm happy enough with it that I'm releasing a preview version. Take a look at the JPEG Saver 4.0 page for more information and to download the installer.

JPEG Saver 3.6 is now available from the downloads page. This version fixes a couple of bugs (one loading Exif data, and another where JPEG Saver could crash if you used the Now Playing item with iTunes listening to the radio) and adds a few new options. The most obvious new option is a "Reverse" option on the main dialog - if you're using one of the modes where the changing of images has a direction, then this will make it go the opposite way. I've renamed the "Remember last" checkbox to "Resume" to make more space for it.
The other new options are available when JPEG Saver is running with navigation enabled. Pressing F10 will save the current screen to a BMP file and use it as the desktop background wallpaper. This uses code from a program that I wrote years ago and forgot about after I decided Wallpaper Changer did a much better job.
The last of the new options is for moving the current image to the Recycle Bin. If you really want to use it, the key combination to press is Control-Delete. Use it at your own risk. Screen savers don't kill people, screens do (if they're big and heavy and land on your head).

JPEG Saver 3.5 is available! This time I've added a new "Now Playing" item, which you can use to show the artist and title of the music track playing on your machine. In this version there is support for iTunes, Winamp, Spotify, and Windows Media Player. And VLC, but I doubt if many people are using it for playing their audio collection.
To get the song title and artist name from Windows Media Player I've had to create a plugin - the JPEG Saver installer can install this for you if you want to use it. All it does is find the track and artist name and make them available for JPEG Saver to look at, but I couldn't find another way to get that information from WMP.
Other changes in this version are a new option in the installer so that you can choose where JPEG Saver keeps its config files, and some improvements to the dialogs - I've finally got around to adding tooltips.
